Resumen de Las pinturas en la capilla de San Pedro Mártir de la iglesia de Pinseque (Zaragoza): un ciclo alegórico en torno al santo de Verona

La cofradía de San Pedro Mártir de Verona, fundada en Pinseque (Zaragoza) en 1664, necesitada de un espacio para las reuniones y la custodia de la imagen del patrón, alzó una capilla a mediados del siglo XVIII en el templo de su localidad. El espacio cuenta con un pensado mensaje simbólico destinado a ensalzar las glorias y bondades del mártir italiano. Analizamos el ciclo, que cuenta con interesantes paralelos nacionales e internacionales y que retoma el ejemplo de la tumba medieval del personaje, donde la alegoría ayuda a reforzar el ciclo hagiográfico.

The Confraternity of Saint Peter Martyr of Verona, founded in Pinseque (Saragossa) in 1664, needed a space for its meetings and the custody of the image of the saint patron. That’s why they paid the construction of a chapel in the church of their town in the middle of the 18th century. This space contains a symbolic message that describes the glories of the Italian martyr. We study this cycle, its national and international parallels, and the example of the medieval tomb of Saint Peter Martyr, where the allegory adds new meanings to the hagiography.
