The companies are always trying to reach a competitive advantage that enables them to obtain a better performance than the competitors. Among the several choices to compete is the proper management of intangibles, and more specifically the area related to innovation; Companies and countries as well, are interested in identifying and implementing the key factors and process intended to lead them into a long-term economic growth. For some researchers and academics, the best decision is to reinforce the intellectual protection rights (IPR), however for others, that decision may create excessive monopoly power that may block further innovation.
