Percepção de competências docentes no ensino superior – estudo transnacional

    The main objective of this article is to analyse the perception of higher education teachers about their competencies of teaching, taking a sample of professors, in three countries: Brazil, Portugal and Spain. As a specific objective, a possible differentiation based on the gender and country variable is also analysed. In order to achieve this objective, the cross-sectional and correlational Teacher Competence Perception Questionnaire was applied, in which a sample of 246 higher education teachers from Brazil, Spain and Portugal. The results showed a significant interaction effect when combining the country of origin and the gender of the participants. Taking the effect of the country variable in isolation, there was a statistically significant difference in the Technologies, Know-How and Relational Climate dimensions, with higher averages for Brazilian teachers. Regarding gender, there was a statistically significant difference in the Know How and Relational Climate dimensions with higher averages for Brazilian women. In the interaction between the two variables country x gender, there was a statistically significant difference only in the variable Technologies with greater stability of the values obtained by men, regardless of the country. More consistent samples of teachers, and differentiated according to the years of practice and the scientific areas of the curricular units taught, will help to deepen the meaning of such differences considering training models and contexts of professional practice. The scientific interest of the article is in help to institutions to define forms of actions, for example training programs can take in account the teacher’s perspective.

    O objetivo principal deste artigo é analisar a percepção de docentes do ensino superior quanto as suas competências do ensino, tomando amostra de docentes em três países: Brasil, Portugal e Espanha. Como objetivo específico analisa-se, ainda, uma eventual diferenciação em função da variável país e variável gênero. Esta pesquisa, de caráter transversal e correlacional, considerou as respostas de 246 professores do ensino superior do Brasil, Espanha e Portugal ao Questionário de Percepção de Competências Docentes. Os resultados apontaram um efeito significativo da interação combinando o país de origem e o gênero dos participantes. Tomando isoladamente o efeito da variável país, houve diferença estatisticamente significativa nas dimensões Tecnologias, Saber Fazer e Clima Relacional, com médias mais altas por parte dos docentes brasileiros. Quanto ao gênero, houve diferença estatisticamente significativa nas dimensões Saber Fazer e Clima Relacional com médias mais elevadas para as mulheres brasileiras. Na interação entre as duas variáveis país x gênero houve diferença estatisticamente significativa somente na variável Tecnologias com maior estabilidade dos valores obtidos pelos homens, independentemente do país. Amostras mais consistentes de docentes, e diferenciadas consoante os anos de prática e as áreas científicas das unidades curriculares lecionadas, ajudarão a aprofundar o significado de tais diferenças considerando modelos de formação e contextos de prática profissional. Essa informação pode ajudar as instituições a definirem formas de intervenção, nomeadamente programas de formação, tendo em vista a capacitação docente dos seus professores.
