Les migracions internacionals i la família transnacional: una revisió sistemàtica

    The age of globalisation has favoured international migration. Current studies on this topic have begun adopting the transnationalism approach. Accordingly, not only is the influence of migrants on the destination location being investigated; the relationships that occur at a distance with the place of origin are being examined also. In this respect, the family has come to form the core component of research on migration and transnationalism. Therefore, in this study, a systematic bibliographical review has been carried out to analyse the situation with regard to families from the transnationalism perspective. The findings have been divided into two subject blocks: “Block 1. Reflections on the notion of transnationalism: a broad concept linked to migration”; and “Block 2. The transnational family:

    an approach to its conceptualisation”. It is concluded that transnationalism provides an especially relevant approach in the study of international migration. However, the transnational family has been represented based on the parameters of the traditional family model and in keeping with current gender roles. The need to conduct research covering a broader perspective of the social reality, which addresses this issue, is considered. This paper aims to serve as an advisory guide for social agents (particularly social workers) in their work with migrants and, specifically, with transnational families.

    L’era de la globalització ha afavorit les migracions internacionals. Els estudis actuals sobre aquest tema han començat a implementar l’enfocament del transnacionalisme. Així, s’està investigant no només la influència dels migrants sobre el lloc de destinació, sinó també les relacions que es produeixen a distància amb el lloc d’origen. En aquest sentit, la família s’ha convertit en l’eix principal de les recerques sobre migracions i transnacionalisme. Per tant, en aquest estudi s’ha dut a terme una revisió bibliogràfica sistemàtica amb l’objectiu d’analitzar l’estat de la qüestió respecte a les famílies des de l’enfocament del transnacionalisme. Els resultats han estat dividits en dos blocs temàtics: “Bloc 1. Reflexions entorn de la noció de transnacionalisme: un concepte ampli vinculat a la migració” i “Bloc 2. La família transnacional: una aproximació a la seva conceptualització”.

    Es conclou que el transnacionalisme constitueix un enfocament especialment rellevant en l’estudi de les migracions internacionals. No obstant això, la família transnacional ha estat representada des dels paràmetres del model de família tradicional i en concordança amb els rols de gènere vigents. Es planteja la necessitat d’elaborar recerques amb una perspectiva més àmplia de la realitat social que versin sobre aquesta temàtica. Aquest article té l’afany de constituir-se com una guia d’assessorament per als interventors socials (especialment per als treballadors socials) en la seva praxi amb el col·lectiu de persones immigrants i, concretament, amb les famílies transnacionals.
