Resumen Vender comida en la calle no requiere gran inversión y puede ser una buena opción laboral cuando la necesidad apremia; sin embargo, tomar esta decisión no obedece únicamente a una situación apremiante, sino a cierta libertad de elección con límites impuestos por el origen social y un marco instituido de significado que crea aceptación de un destino social. La respuesta a este hecho está en la trayectoria laboral de estas mujeres comideras, una trayectoria marcada por la división sexual del trabajo y la distribución desigual de oportunidades.

Abstract selling cooked food on the strect docs not require much investment and can be a good choice for work when need presses; however, taking this decision docs not only respond to a pressing situation, but also to a certain freedom of choice within limits imposed by social origin and an instituted framework of meaning which creates acceptancc of social destiny. The response to this fact is in the employment trajectory of these women food sellers, a trajectory marked by the sexual division of labour and the unequal distribution of opportunities.
