    Resumen: Este trabajo ofrece un panorama de la recepción y construcción crítica del llamado romancero erudito en las colecciones de los siglos XVIII y XIX. Partiendo de un análisis de las fuentes y criterios empleados por los editores de las distintas colecciones de esta época, se postula que la visión negativa del romancero erudito como mera versificación de crónicas es una construcción crítica de la filología romántica, que precisó de un contratexto sobre el que perfilar los romances viejos, que fueron el verdadero objeto de su interés..Palabras clave: Ilustración, Romanticismo, Romancero, romancero erudito.

    Abstract: This article offers an overview of the reception and critical construction of the so-called romancero erudito in the collections of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Based on an analysis of the sources and criteria used by the editors of the different collections of this period, it postulates that the negative view of the romancero erudito as a mere versification of chronicles is a critical construction of romantic philology, which needed a countertext on which to profile the old romances, which were the true object of its interest.Keywords: Illustration, Romanticism, Romancero, romancero erudite.
