    The figure of the intellectual in Roberto Bolaño's work is often interpreted through the prism of marginality. This category is defined by a certain attitude towards the universe of symbolic exchanges in the field, being configured by a voluntary and/or involuntary non-belonging to it. However, some of Bolaño's characters constitute a style that goes beyond these limits in such way that the author's intellectual ideal can be understood as a refusal not only to the field, but also, and perhaps above all, to an economic and political model. Following clues from his own work, this article intends to present the category of intellectual lumpen or intellectual lumpenism, an idea that merges in the characters Arturo Belano, Ulisses Lima, Cesárea Tinajero, Auxilio Lacouture and Benno von Archimboldi. The latter would be, finally, the most finished version of an intellectual model conceived by Bolaño, becoming Belano's overcoming, that is, the author's last alter ego.

    A figura do intelectual na obra de Roberto Bolaño é frequentemente interpretada a partir do prisma da marginalidade. Essa categoria é definida por uma certa postura diante do universo das trocas simbólicas do campo, sendo configurada por um não-pertencimento voluntário e/ou involuntário a ele. No entanto, alguns personagens de Bolaño constituem-se como um estilema que ultrapassa esses limites, de modo que o ideal de intelectualidade do autor pode ser entendido como uma recusa não apenas ao campo, mas também, e talvez sobretudo, a um modelo político-econômico. Seguindo pistas da própria obra do escritor, este trabalho pretende apresentar a categoria do intelectual lúmpen ou do lumpenismo intelectual, ideia que se funde nos personagens Arturo Belano, Ulisses Lima, Cesárea Tinajero, Auxilio Lacouture e Benno von Archimboldi. Este último seria, por fim, a versão mais bem acabada de um modelo de intelectual pensado por Bolaño, tornando-se ele também a superação de Belano, ou seja, o último alter ego do autor.
