The 1960s were characterised by the development of the first modernist anthropological analyses of rural Portugal. Anthropologists such as Joyce Riegelhaupt, José Cutileiro and Colette Callier-Boisvert introduced in Portuguese anthropology the main paradigms then prevalent in international anthropology, subverted the strong relationship between the study folk culture and the search for national identity that until then had dominated the Portuguese anthropological tradition, and powerfully contributed to the development of new concerns and images in the analysis of rural Portugal.
Les années 60 ont été marqués par les premiers regards anthropologiquement modernes sur le monde rural portugais. Associés à anthropologuescomme Joyce Riegelhaupt, José Cutileiro et Colette Callier-Boisvert, ces regards ont introduit au Portugal les principaux paradigmes de l' anthropologie internationale orientée vers l' étude des sociétés rurales, ont transformé l'articulationjusqu'alors prédominante entre culture populaire et identité nationale, et ont contribué au renouvellement des moyens d'analyse et des images du Portugal rural.
Os anos 1960 foram marcados pela emergência dos primeiros olhares antropologicamente modernos sobre o mundo rural português. Associados a antropólogos como Joyce Riegelhaupt, José Cutileiro e Colette Callier-Boisvert, esses olhares introduziram em Portugal os principais paradigmas da antropologia internacional orientada para o estudo das sociedades camponesas, subverteram a articulação até então predominante na antropologia portuguesa entre cultura popular e identidade nacional, e contribuíram poderosamente para a renovação das escalas de análise e imagens do Portugal rural.
