    Esta investigación parte del interés de estudiar las representaciones sociales sobre el volcán Galeras de los niños, jóvenes y adultos mayores de la comunidad indígena y campesina de la vereda Aguapamba en el corregimiento de Genoy, Municipio de Pasto. El objetivo principal de este artículo es reconocer las representaciones sociales que se han generado en torno a un fenómeno natural que ha estado presente dentro de la historia y cultura de los habitantes. Por lo tanto, el referente teórico-conceptual que orientó esta investigación es la categoría de representaciones sociales, la cual será abordada a partir del enfoque estructural propuesto por Jean Claude Abric. Por consiguiente, para dar a conocer este objetivo se adoptó una metodología de corte cualitativo que retoma los métodos interrogativos propuestos dentro de la perspectiva estructural de este autor, para lograr un acercamiento a las representaciones sociales sobre el volcán Galeras. Las técnicas de recolección de información que se emplearon fueron las entrevistas y los soportes gráficos. Respecto a los resultados obtenidos, se evidencia cómo el volcán se constituye en un elemento identitario y simbólico para sus habitantes, un fenómeno por el cual emergen una gran cantidad de imaginarios que varían respecto a lo expuesto por cada grupo poblacional.

    This research is based on the interest of studying the social representations on the Galeras volcano of children, youth and older adults of the indigenous and peasant community of the Aguapamba village in the corregimiento of Genoy, Municipality of Pasto. The main objective of this article is to recognize the social representations that have been generated around a natural phenomenon that has been present within the history and culture of the inhabitants. Therefore, the theoretical-conceptual reference that guided this research is the category of social representations, which will be approached from the structural approach proposed by Jean Claude Abric. Therefore, to publicize this objective, a qualitative methodology was adopted that takes up the interrogative methods proposed within the structural perspective of this author, to achieve an approach to the social representations on the Galeras volcano. The information collection techniques used were interviews and graphic supports. Regarding the results obtained, it is evident how the volcano constitutes an identity and symbolic element for its inhabitants, a phenomenon by which a large number of imaginaries emerge that vary with respect to what is exposed by each population group.
