Heresia e santidade nos registros eclesiásticos sobre mulheres no séculos XIII: um estudo comparado dos casos de Clara de Assis e Guglielma de Milao

    É objetivo do presente artigo apresentar um debate sobre a constituição dos processos de canonização e de inquisição como instrumentos de exercício de poder eclesiástico que buscava normatizar a vida religiosa, em particular a feminina, a partir do século XIII. Para realizar tal exercício, partimos de dois documentos, o Processo de Canonização de Clara de Assis (1255) e o Processo inquisitorial contra os Devotos e as Devotas de Santa Guglielma (1300). Em outras palavras, nos interessa verificar a forma pela qual a santidade e a heresia são associadas às mulheres nos registros das fontes e debater a construção das categorias de santa e herege a partir dos registros processuais que, em seu tempo, as definiram como tal.

    The aim of this article is to present a debate on the constitution of the processes of canonization and inquisition as instruments for the exercise of ecclesiastical power that sought to normalize religious life, particularly the female one, from the 13th century. To carry out this exercise, we started with two documents that we have been studying in our doctoral research, the Process of Canonization of Clare of Assisi (1255) and the Inquisitorial Process against the Devotees of Saint Guglielma (1300). In other words, we are interested in verifying the way in which holiness and heresy are associated with women in the records of the sources and debating the construction of the categories of saint and heretic based on the processual records that, in their time, defined them as such.
