  • Resumen
    • The Neogene planktic foraminifera is of global importance and many zones were established from the various parts of the world in the past, but great variation is noted in its inter-regional correlation. The concept of the datum planes based on the initial appearence and last extinction of the characteristic planktic foraminifera of wider geographic distribution is gained tredemnous importance in recent years to delineate the various geological boundaries. The datum planes of Miocene, Pliocene and Pleistocene of planktic and larger foraminifera of Pakistan are discussed which are synchronous in tropical and Sub tropical regions of Circum global occurrence, particuarly in Caribbean, Mediterranean and Indo-Pacific regions. These datum planes are correlated to paleomagnetic time scale and caliberated its radiometric dates.
