  • Resumen
    • An inventory has been made of the planktic foraminiferal assemblage in the Planomalina buxtorfi Zone at a location north of Velez Blanco in south-eastern Spain.

Planomalina buxtorfi's first appearance coincides with that of P. praebuxtorfi and Rotalipora appenninica, P. buxtorfi rapidly gaining dominance over P. praebuxtorfi. The short lifespan of P. buxtorfi is estimated as 172.3 ka at the most. The exit of P. buxtorfi is abrupt and at a time it dominated the keeled planktic foraminiferal faunas.

Results of close-spaced sampling confirmed that the seemingly undisturbed section was tectonically thinned ('boudination').
