  • Resumen
    • Twenty five species of calcareous mannoplankton are recognized and illustrated from Miocene outcrops of three small islands, Colebrook, North Passage and Great Nicobar, in the Bay of Bengal, northeastern Indian Ocean. The presence of Sphenolithus heteromorphus, Helicosphaera ampliaperta and the absence of S. belemnos allow the samples from Colebrook and North Passage Islands to be referable to Martini's (1971) NN4 Zone or to Okada and Bukrys' (1980) CN3 Zone, with an estimated age of about 15.0 to 17.5 Ma. Samples from Great Nicobar Island are correlated to the NN5 Zone (Martini, 1971) or the CN4 Zone (Okada and Bukry, 1980), with an estimated age about 13.0 to 15.0 Ma.
