Resumen de El populismo y su dimensión constitucional en América Latina

En este artículo analizo las implicaciones constitucionales del populismo en América Latina. Para ello, formulo una introducción general donde se exponen algunos conceptos sobre la temática central de este texto. Luego, propongo una definición de populismo que lo identifica como una forma de hacer política. En tal sentido, se sistematizan algunas características de este fenómeno basado en la postura teórica que comparto. En el tercer apartado discuto sobre la presencia del populismo en América Latina, a partir de la llegada al poder de los primeros gobiernos populistas en la región y los procesos de reforma constitucional que impulsaron, desde los años cuarenta del siglo XX hasta los efectuados a inicios del XXI. Por último, argumento cómo estudiar al populismo en la actualidad latinoamericana, al tomar en cuenta su núcleo autoritario y cómo esto afecta el contenido de las constituciones adoptadas bajo su égida.

In this article I analyze the constitutional implications of populism in Latin America. For this, I formulate a general introduction where some concepts about the central theme of this text are exposed. Then, I propose a definition of populism that identifies it as a way of doingpolitics. In this sense, some characteristics of this phenomenon are systematized based on the theoretical position that I share. In the third section, I discuss the presence of populism in Latin America, from the coming to power of the first populist governments in the region and the processes of constitutional reform that they promoted, from the forties of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. Finally, I argue how to study populism in Latin America today, taking into account its authoritarian core and how this affects the content of the constitutions adopted under its aegis.
