El trabajo plantea el desafío que se le presenta al psicoanálisis para operar en una poca, atravesada por el ideal del Goce, alimentada por el enorme avance de la tecnología, que lanza al sujeto a creer en la posibilidad de borramiento de toda diferencia, de todo límite, incluso el de la muerte, “a la mortalidad terrenal se ofrece la eternidad virtual”. Se pregunta acerca de los efectos en la subjetividad de la hipertrofia de la dimensión imaginaria en detrimento de la dimensión simbólica. Tendrá el psicoanálisis que estar a la altura de la cultura que lo atraviesa y saber hacer con eso, sin renunciar a los principios que le dieron origen: la ética del analista que implica el respeto por el sufrimiento y la singularidad del sujeto en cuanto a su deseo inconsciente.

The reality principle versus the power of illusion. This paper presents the challenge to psychoanalysis in an era crossed by the ideal of jouissance and fed by the enormous advance of technology, which leads the subject o believe in the possibility of erasing all difference, all limits, even death: “earthly mortality is countered by virtual eternity”. It wonders about the effects on subjectivit of the hypertrophy of the imaginary dimension to the detriment of the symbolic. Psychoanalysis will have to keep up with the culture in which it is currently embedded without renouncing the principles that gave rise to it: the analyst’s ethics, which implies respect for the suffering and the uniqueness of the unconscious desire of each subject.
