    La modernización es uno de los conceptos más importantes para entender la ciudad, sus dinámicas institucionales y sociales. Es importante diferenciarlo de otros conceptos asociados. El presente texto pretende hacer un panorama de las miradas modernizadoras oficiales referidas a la ciudad de Bogotá y a la vivienda dentro del periodo señalado (1920-1977), contrastarlas con las experiencias y vivencias de la gente que llega a la ciudad expulsada del campo y que no es tenida en cuenta por estas miradas, se organiza y la construye por su propia cuenta.

    Modernization is one of the most important concepts for understanding institutional and social dynamics of the cities. It is important to differentiate it from other associated concepts. This text aims to provide an overview of the official modernizing views on the city of Bogotá and housing during this period, face them with the experiences of the people who arrived to the city expelled from the countryside. Those new Bogotá residents are aside, they need to organize and built by themselves
