  Esta investigación se realizó a partir de la problemática que presenta el municipio de Majagua en cuanto a la meliponicultura y la necesidad de desarrollar esta actividad con la implementación de buenas prácticas productivas para la sostenibilidad de la agricultura. Su objetivo es contribuir al desarrollo de la meliponicultura mediante su inserción en las buenas prácticas productivas dirigidas a la sostenibilidad de la agricultura y la comercialización de sus productos. La meliponicultura es una actividad agraria que necesita que se desarrolle y proteja, algunos agricultores desconocen qué es la polinización y, por lo tanto, su importancia y el beneficio para sus cultivos y la biodiversidad. Se realiza un censo de los meliponicultores y se entrevistan para valorar sus conocimientos sobre la actividad, método que utilizan, destino final de sus productos, cantidad de colmenas y sus condiciones. A partir de esto se diagnostica la meliponicultura y se traza un plan de acción para incrementar su desarrollo a través de la capacitación de meliponicultores y agricultores. Posteriormente su utilización intencionada en la producción de alimentos a partir del aporte del servicio ecosistémico de polinización.
