Resumen de «La batalla de los muertos» de Juan Iturralde y Suit: en torno al mito nacionalista euskaro

Este trabajo aborda la leyenda «La batalla de los muertos» de Juan Iturralde y Suit como documento que ayude a explicar la construcción del universo mítico euskaro a finales del siglo XIX. Para ello, se ofrece una lectura de la leyenda como fuente etnográfica y como testimonio de la propuesta ideológica defendida desde Asociación Euskara de Navarra. Por otro lado, se analizan también otros textos afines a la asociación: Orreaga de Arturo Campión y las descripciones euskaras de Iturralde y Suit. Por último, se analiza el desarrollo de la Revista Euskara y su importancia en torno a la constitución del mito nacionalista euskaro.

This paper analyses the legend «La batalla de los muertos» by Juan Iturralde y Suit as a document that helps explain the construction of the Basque mythical universe at the end of the 19th century. For this, a reading of the legend is offered as an ethnographic source and as a testimony of the ideological proposal defended by the Euskara Association of Navarra. On the other hand, other texts related to the Association are also analysed:
Orreaga by Arturo Campión and the euskara descriptions by Iturralde y Suit. Finally, it provides an analysis of the development of the Revista Euskara and its importance around the constitution of the Basque nationalist myth.

Lan honetan Iturralde Suiten «La batalla de los muertos» kondaira aztertzen da XIX.
mendearen hondarrean euskaro en unibertso mitikoa nola eraiki zen argitzen laguntzen duelakoan. Horretarako, iturri etnografiko gisa eta Nafarroako Euskara Elkarteak aldezturiko proposamen ideologikoaren froga gisa irakurtzen da kondaira. Bestetik, elkarteari lotutako beste testu hauek ere aztertzen dira: Arturo Campionen Orreaga eta Iturralde Suiten Descripciones euskaras . Azkenik, Revista Euskara argitalpena ikertzen da: bai aldizkariaren garapena, bai euskaroen mito abertzalearen eraketarako izan zuen garrantzia.
