Resumen de La noche oscura de san Juan de la Cruz en el alumbradismo tardío sevillano

El artículo estudia la relación retórica entre el poema «La noche oscura del alma» de Juan de la Cruz y los alumbrados tardíos denunciados por la Inquisición en Sevilla en 1623, atendiendo a la historia de estos grupos y a la relación del texto de san Juan con las teologías y prácticas religiosas de la Modernidad. El análisis de retórica cultural propuesto pretende superar controversias teológicas para plantear nuevas preguntas sobre el trasfondo comunicativo-cultural de estos grupos, como un eje para el análisis literario. De esta forma, es posible esclarecer no solo las estructuras de los alumbrados sino también la recepción y forma discursiva de la obra poética, que es analizada junto con los documentos inquisitoriales y la información histórica disponible.

This paper examines the rhetorical relationship between the poem «The Dark Night of the Soul», by John of the Cross, and the late alumbrados denounced by the Inquisition in Seville in 1623, by considering the history of these groups and the relationship of the text of St. John with the theologies and religious practices of Modernity. The proposed analysis of cultural rhetoric aims to overcome theological controversies in order to raise new questions about the communicative-cultural background of these groups, as an axis for literary analysis. In this way, it is possible to help clarifying not only the structures of the alumbrados but also the reception and discursive form of the poetic work, which is analysed together with inquisitorial documents and available historical information
