    This article is a methodological attempt to «catch» the demographic transition through the analysis of the infant mortality rate and the juvenile mortality rate. The real life tables were calculated and compared with the model life tables of Ledermann and of Princeton trough different indicators. The period covered by the analysis is 1864-1950.

Les tables de mortalité réele ont été calculés et comparés avec les tablestypes de Ledermann et de Princeton, atravers differents indicateurs. La période couverte par Ie travail est celIe de 1864 à 1950.
