Delitos, territorios y sujetos en el Veracruz colonial: Una exploración desde la Inquisición novohispana

    El objetivo de este artículo es presentar una aproximación a los delitos y los sujetos conocidos por la Inquisición novohispana en la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII para el caso del actual estado de Veracruz. El método se basa en la minería de datos y el análisis documental. La originalidad del trabajo es presentar, desde un ejercicio exploratorio y descriptivo con algunos avances analíticos, quiénes fueron los actores históricos denunciados por romper el orden social y simbólico. Entre los hallazgos se identifica que la aplicación de las reformas borbónicas propició una mayor vigilancia de la sociedad veracruzana colonial, y que la Inquisición se mostró vitalizada incluso al final del periodo virreinal.

    This article seeks to examine the crimes and subjects known to the Novohispanic Inquisition during the second half of the 18th century for the case of what is now the state of Veracruz. The method is based on data mining and documentary analysis. The originality of the article lies in its use of an exploratory, descriptive exercise with state-of-the-art analytical instruments to portray the historical actors denounced for destroying the social and symbolic order. The findings show that the adoption of the bourbon reforms led to greater vigilance of colonial Veracruz society, and that the Inquisition was still active at the end of the viceroyalty period.
