The size of the last supplementary aperture of the planktonic foraminifera Globigerinoides emeisi and Globigerinoides amplus relative to the size of the whole test is expressed as a per cent value (PC value). This permits making a sharp distinction between the two similar taxa. From PC values measured on specimens figured in the literature and on 417 specimens from cores of the Petah Tiqwa Structure Hole (SH) 33 of Israel, it is concluded that G. emeisi is limited to the Globorotalia margaritae Zone of Early Pliocene age. Conversely, G. amplus has a longer range. Some stratigraphic notes on Petah Tiqwa SH33 are given.
