  1. A question thar be equated is whether the French Revolution had, in Portugal, the impact that is usually ascribed to ir or if in spite of an undoubted influence, our revolutionary process has had a national root in wat development conditions and theoretic grounds are concerned.

  2. Some light will be brought into the subject when analysing the influence of the French Revolution upon the Public Instruction. It will be found that only the students and a few teachers will show the direct and profound impact od the Revolution. However, its action shall reveal inconsequent in pratice.

  3. The whole process of transformation of education in Portugal is characterised by the slowness, the delay and the insufficiency of the reforms which will only gain perceptible meaning after 1834.

Une question qui se pose c 'est de savoir si la Révolution Française a eu au Portugal l'importance qui généralement on le donne ou si, bien qu'ayant une influence inquestionable, notre processus revolutionaire a eu une racine nationale, au niveau des condition de developpement et au niveau de certains fondements teoriques.

  2. En annalysant l'influence de la Révolution Française dans l'enseignement publique on peut dévoiler un aspect du probleme. Seulement quelques étudiants et tres peu de professeurs se sont rendus compte de l'influence directe et profonde de la Révolution. Néanmoins, son action dans la vie pratique se révelera inconséquente.

  3. Tout le processus de transformation de l'éducation au Portugal a comme caracteristique la paresse, le retardement et l'insuffisance des réformes qui se ne vérifient d'une forme sensible qu'à partir de 1834.
