La técnica gráfica ha puesto tradicionalmente el foco de atención en el papel de los materiales y procedimientos productivos que participan en el proceso de grabado, dejando sin embargo fuera de esta reflexión el papel del cuerpo, en tanto que factor determinante de un trabajo que figura a modo de marginalia en todo el recorrido del proyecto gráfico. Sin embargo, en los años 50, con motivo de la irrupción del body art y de las prácticas performativas, la implicación del cuerpo adquiere un nuevo sentido como objeto de pensamiento, práctica y discurso compartido por una gran diversidad de disciplinas artísticas.

The graphic technique has traditionally placed the focus of attention on the role of the materials and productive procedures that participate in the engraving process, although it has left out of this reflection the role of the body, as a determining factor of the work that appears as a marginalia throughout the course of the graphic project. However, in the 1950s, due to the irruption of body art in the field of artistic practices, the involvement of the body acquired a new meaning, positioning itself as an object of thought, practice and discourse, shared by a great diversity of artistic disciplines.
