La mobilité,étant donné l'absence generalisée de registres spécifiques pour L'Ancien Régime et les difficultés d'exploitation des existents pour les périodes qui s'en suivant et un phénoméne ignoré ou traité de façon inadéquate dans I' Histoire des Populations.
La méthode de "reconstituio des paroisses"dans la mesure ou elle constitue un "bane de données"avec la biographie des résidents,permet de déceler les entrées et les sorties au "mouvement naturel", En adoptand certaines et même sans avoir acces aux listes de résidents ni aux registres de passports.il est possible de faire une aproximation aux comportaments migratoires.
De deux populations du "Sud do Pico" S.Mateus et S. Caetano.om été accornpagnés les trajectoires des générations nées entre 1740 et 1890 et vérifiée la grande importance du phénoméne "EMIGRATION"dans l'histoire démographie de ces deux paroisses.

The mobility of the population has been underexplored by historicaldemographers. The absence of systematic analysis of the phenomenon owes to the lack registers of specific for the Preindustrial Period and to difficulties issued by the analysis of more recent documents The method of the reconstruction of parishes,allowing the elaboration of a database including the biography of each resident allows the detection of entries and leaves of the individuals,other than those of births and obits.
Through the use of some conventions, although neither lists ofresidents nor passport registers are available,an appoach to migration behavior becomes possible.
In the south of the island ofPico(Azores), the generations born between 1740 and 1890 of two parishes"S.Mateus" and "S.Caetano", have been followed, underlining the importance of emigration in the area.
