Génesis de la idea de inteligencia en Zubiri (I).: ¿Inteligencia sin situación histórica ni existencia?

    Trato de mostrar en este artículo la génesis del concepto de inteligencia sentiente de Zubiri. Es una exposición (Darstellung) que pretende ir mostrando, en pasos sucesivos, que el comienzo del problema en nuestro autor abre posibilidades, pero también condiciona fatalmente el proceso y el resultado. El primer paso se da en un artículo de Naturaleza, Historia, Dios (1944) donde se perfilan posiciones que condicionaran todo el itinerario de Zubiri. Una de estas limitaciones es que solo se entienda por situación histórica lo referido al saber científico, pero no así los factores socioeconómicos o culturales. ¿No es situación del pensar filosófico que, en los años 1940 Europa esté inmersa, tras el Crack del 29 y el auge de los fascismos, en la segunda Guerra Mundial y España comienza un periodo de dictadura y durísima represión que ha dejado miles de desaparecidos en las cunetas? También se echa de menos una reflexión filosófica sobre el “quién” del acto intelectivo (el “sujeto”) ya que una inteligencia sin “sujeto” es lo más parecido a una Inteligencia Artificial. Por último, un análisis de la relación entre lenguaje e inteligencia, un aspecto y objeto de reflexión filosófica recurrente en la primera mitad del siglo XX. Entre las posibilidades que abre este comienzo del pensamiento de Zubiri sobre la inteligencia sentiente está la superación del dualismo entre sentir e inteligir y la no reducción de inteligir a idear.

    In this article I attempt to reveal the genesis of the concept of the sentient intelligence in Zubiri. In consecutive steps, this exposition (Darstellung) aims to demonstrate that, in his first discussions of the problem, Zubiri not only creates opportunities but also fatally conditions the process and the end result. The first step in this direction he makes in an article titled Nature, History, God (1944) where Zubiri takes on positions that will condition the whole development of his thinking. One of these positions concerns his considering a historical situation only in the context of scientific knowledge, leaving aside socio-economic and cultural factors. Considerer that, for example, after going through the 1929 Crash and the rise of fascism in the 1930s, Europe in the 1940s is in the middle of World War II and Spain is embarking on a long period of dictatorship and a severe repression that leaves thousands of unidentified victims in ditches all over the country. Is this not a situation that requires philosophical thinking? On the other hand, there is a lack of philosophical reflection on the “who” or the “subject” in the intelligent act;

    intelligence without a “subject” brings to mind something similar to Artificial Intelligence. Finally, Zubiri’s early reflections on sentient intelligence lack an analysis of the relation between language and intelligence, a subject that was much discussed in early 20th Century philosophy. However, amongst the opportunities created by these early reflections is the possibility to go beyond the dualism of feeling and understanding, and of not reducing intelligence to ideating.
