    La reciente publicación del primer curso oral impartido por Zubiri tras su abandono de la Universidad, Ciencia y realidad, de 1945-46, permite identificar algunas claves que resultan importantes para la interpretación de todo su pensamiento. Tal es lo que sucede con los términos “elemento” y “principio”, que sometemos a análisis. El estudio diacrónico de estos términos en la obra de Zubiri permite identificar un primer periodo en el que coexisten ambos, pero con una clara preponderancia del segundo, otro en el que la categoría de elemento cobra un relieve especial, y el tercero y último en el que de nuevo la categoría de principio pasa a primer término, aunque sin anular completamente a la otra. Tomando como hilo conductor ambos términos, puede seguirse la evolución intelectual de Zubiri y aclarar algunas de las variaciones de su pensamiento a lo largo del tiempo

    The recent publication of the first oral course taught by Zubiri after his retirement from the University, Science and reality, in 1945-46, allows us to identify some important keys for the interpretation of all his thought. Such is what happens with the terms “element” and “principle”, which we submit to analysis. The diachronic study of these terms in Zubiri’s work allows us to identify a first period in which both coexist, but with a clear preponderance of the second over the first, another in which the category of element takes on special importance, and the third and last in which the category of principle comes to the fore, although without completely annulling the other. Taking both terms as a guiding thread, Zubiri’s intellectual evolution can be followed and some of the variations in his thought over time can be clarified.
