Resumen de Tres exemples de patrimoni industrial: Les fàbriques de calçat de Menorca

At the end of 19th century Menorcan shoe manufacture experienced an increase of production, therefore shoe industry became one of the most important sources of income for the island along the 20th century. Both national and international recognition that some shoemakers achived, was one of the reasons for an increase of production and the necessity to open new factories where to do the confection. Over the years, these now old factories, allocated in the urban structure of the menorcan villages, have being closing down to open new sites in the industrial states. The following study we present is a short historic-artistic description of three industrial architectural examples and the aim of it is to get these buildings to know to the public as well as value them for what they were and overall to avoid their abandonment and damage.

La manufactura de la sabata a Menorca va experimentar un alça de la producció cap a finals del segle XIX, la qual cosa féu que la indústria del calçat esdevenís una de les fonts d'ingrés més importants per a l'illa al llarg del segle XX. El prestigi assolit per certs sabaters illencs, tant a nivell nacional com internacional, va permetre l'increment de la producció i la necessitat d'obrir noves fàbriques on poder dur a terme la confecció. Amb els anys, aquestes ara antigues fàbriques, situades dins el marc urbà de les poblacions menorquines, han anat tancant les seves portes per obrir nous emplaçaments als polígons industrials. El present estudi pretén aportar una breu descripció històrico-artística de tres exemples arquitectònics fabrils, donar-los a conèixer, revaloritzar-los pel que significaren i, sobretot, evitar el seu abandó i deteriorment.
