Resumen de Bases para el estudio de la historia del oratorio en Catalunya en el siglo XVIII

Con el presente artículo se pretende dar a conocer la destacada presencia que tuvo el oratorio en la vida social catalana del siglo XVIII. A pesar de que hasta el momento se conocen muy pocos datos sobre esta materia, en el artículo se pone de manifiesto, basándose en documentación inédita, la importancia del género en dicha zona y época. Un total de cerca de cuatrocientos libretos permite iniciar el estudio de la historia del oratorio en Catalunya. A partir de ellos se pueden determinar los autores que se interesaron por el género, las capillas musicales que interpretaron las composiciones, las iglesias donde se ejecutaban, los motivos por los que se encargaban estas obras… Por otro lado, el diario del Barón de Maldà permite completar la información aportada por los libretos. Toda esta documentación sirve para sentar las bases de una historia del oratorio en Catalunya, historia que hasta el momento no ha sido escrita todavía.

With this paper we intend to show the remarkable presence of oratorio in Catalan social life in the 17th century. Although until then very few data about this matter are known, the paper reveals, based on unpublished documents, the importance of that genre in this area and period. A total of approximately four hundred books allow initiating the study of the history of oratorio in Catalonia. Starting from them, we can determine the authors who showed an interest in the genre, the musical chapels that interpreted the compositions, the churches where they were interpreted, the reasons to order these works… On the other hand, the newspaper of the Barón de Maldà lets us complete the information contributed by the librettos. All this documentation is used to establish the bases of a history of the oratorio in Catalonia, a history that is to be written.
