Rhodophyta microproblematicae algae of the Jurassic from the Carpathian area

  • New Rhodophyta algae are reported to families so far considered to be lacking in fossil statement or to be entirely doubtful. Praeliagora jurassica n. gen., n. sp., P. distans n. gen., n. sp., P. sp. (Family Helminthocladiaceae), Discochaetium pilosum n. gen., n. sp. (Family Acrochaetiaceae) and Archaeopeyssonnelia crustacea n. gen., n. sp. (Family Peyssonneliaceae) are described.

    Pseudochaetetes champagnensis Peterhans, 1929, of family Solenoporaceae is also presented. Crisaniella fasciculata n. gen., n. sp., is doubtfully assigned to the same family.

    Microproblematicae algae showing affinities with Rhodophyta are described as well.
