Resumen
- This paper addresses to the political perception topic, seeking to better understand Portuguese MPs’ and electorates’ perceptions (and its accuracy) concerning, respectively, voters’ and parties’ left-right positioning. It has two main goals: the first reports to the descriptive analysis of both MPs and voters left-right positions, MPs’ perceptions of voters’ positions, and voters’ perceptions of parties’ positions. The second goal aims to explore the reasons underlying the levels of MPs’ and voters’ perception accuracy. Findings reveal that Portugal does not appear to be a divergent case in the general European pattern.
