  • Resumen
    • This paper explores the role of individual resources, situational factors and the socialization process in the endurance of a gender gap in political attitudes in contemporary Spain. We pay special attention to the reasons explaining why the effect of cohort replacement might be at some point interrupted by life-cycle aspects, particularly those related to the power and resources balance between the members of the couple. We find that the causal mechanisms behind political engagement vary with gender. Overall, women are more conditioned by situational factors such as the amount of time devoted to housekeeping and the (in)egalitarian distribution of domestic tasks within the couple.
