En los siglos xvi a xviii, entre los trabajos de orfebrería, destacaron los objetos atribuidos a talleres de Trapani (Sicilia), realizados en coral rojo mediterráneo (Corallium rubrum). En el Instituto del Patrimonio Cultural de España (IPCE) se han restaurado algunas de estas piezas y el artículo describe el material, las formas de construcción de los objetos, causas de alteración y tratamientos.
Between 17th and 18th centuries, products made with mediterranean red coral (Corallium rubrum) from Trapani (Sicily), highlighted among other fine metal works. The article describes the works carried out by IPCE on several Trapani’s objects; raw material, construction forms, causes of deterioration and treatment.
