El lupus eritematoso sistémico, es una patología compleja que se caracteriza por su respuesta auto inmunitaria alterada, la cual podría afectar a cualquier órgano, con un espectro, manifestaciones clínicas e inmunológicas muy variado, y un curso clínico caracterizado por episodios de exacerbación y remisión de la enfermedad. Es una enfermedad crónica que afecta tanto a capacidades físicas como psicológicas, teniendo un gran impacto social sobre el paciente y sobre la familia. La labor sanitaria frente a este tipo de pacientes no solo será de seguimiento y tratamiento farmacológico, sino que también, deberemos instruir al paciente, para que comprenda su enfermedad y acepte sus límites, fomente sus capacidades y pueda mantener una adecuada calidad de vida dentro de sus limitaciones.
Systemic lupus erythematosus is a complex pathology characterized by its altered autoimmune response, which can affect any organ, with a highly varied spectrum, clinical and immunological manifestations, and a clinical course characterized by episodes of exacerbation and remission of the disease. It is a chronic disease that affects both physical and psychological capacities, having a great social impact on the patient and on the family. The health work in front of this type of patients will not only be monitoring and pharmacological treatment but we must also instruct the patient so that he understands his disease and accepts his limits, promotes his capacities and can maintain an adequate quality of life within his limitations.
