  Si trabajas en un quirófano de la especialidad de columna de Trauma o Neuro, sabrás que algo muy habitual son las laminectomías. Este artículo pretende darte información útil, que puedas necesitar para desarrollar mejor tu trabajo. Cada sitio tiene sus particularidades. Cada quirófano, incluso aunque se vayan a realizar las mismas intervenciones, pueden tener procedimientos diferentes. Pues influye mucho el personal médico, sus costumbres y el material que utilicen. También las distintas especialidades, pues en neuro se puede utilizar el O-arm, microscopio, entre otros, y por consiguiente, lleva una mesa propia y diferentes preparaciones. Siendo un procedimiento igual que el de trauma, pero con diferentes herramientas.

  En principio nos centraremos sólo en el de trauma, por ser más sencillo de preparar.

  La laminectomía, es un procedimiento que se hace con frecuencia para tratar estenosis raquídea (estrechamiento de la columna). Esto se produce cuando se comprime el pequeño conducto vertebral que contiene las raíces nerviosas y la médula espinal, lo que provoca dolor, calambres, debilidad o entumecimiento. Este procedimiento consiste en abrir el conducto raquídeo con el fin de que los nervios raquídeos tengan más espacio. Esta cirugía puede acompañarse a una discectomía, una foraminotomía o una artrodesis vertebral. En cualquier caso, la preparación será la misma exceptuando las cajas de instrumental, implantes, etc.

  Si trabajas en el quirófano prepárate para mil variedades, porque dependiendo del diagnóstico, el cirujano, el paciente, el instrumental disponible, etc., serán variables que van a determinar lo que hará falta preparar.

  Este es el procedimiento que seguimos en Trauma del hospital Miguel Servet, probablemente en otros hospitales sea diferente.

  Sobre todo, conviene familiarizarse cuanto antes con los materiales, pues tiene que haber de todo en cualquier momento o te pueden pedir algo que necesiten y tienes que saber qué te están pidiendo o dónde encontrarlo.
