    La valoración y tratamiento oftalmológico del paciente anciano, nos enfoca a ser conscientes de las diferencias de este tipo de pacientes tanto en la exploración, el diagnóstico, el plan de actuación sea quirúrgico o no, y el tratamiento. Hemos de valorar al paciente como en ser biopsicosocial, y tener en cuenta calidad de vida, el grado de independencia funcional y sus limitaciones o no de actividades de la vida diaria, que el tratamiento va a suponer.

    Objetivo: Describir los principales problemas oftálmicos del anciano y problemáticas funcionales y biopsicosociales, que sufre el paciente geriátrico, con alteraciones de la pérdida visual. Mostrar la importancia, de tener un enfoque bio-psico-social en la evaluación, en la valoración y tratamiento de estos pacientes.

    The evaluation and ophthalmological treatment of the elderly patient, focuses us on being aware of the differences of this type of patients both in the exploration, the diagnosis, the action plan, whether surgical or not, and the treatment, we must assess the patient as in being biopsychosocial, and take into account quality of life, the degree of functional independence and its limitations or not in activities of daily living, which the treatment will entail.

    Objective: To describe the main ophthalmic problems of the elderly and the functional and biopsychosocial problems suffered by geriatric patients with alterations in visual loss.

    To show the importance of having a bio-psycho-social approach in the evaluation in the assessment and treatment of these patients.
