This paper basically deals with an understudied category of ethno-regionalist parties in (Western) Europe: the rattachist parties. After a brief definition and presentation of main characteristics of the ethno-regionalist parties, a typology of such parties is build, stressing the lack of scientific literature on the two extreme categories (protectionist and secessionist parties). Among this last category, the rattachist parties are quite peculiar as they seek for secession from their kin-state but not for independence. The case of the Belgian ethno-regionalist party RWF will be particularly studied and will lead to the identification of a series of elements allowing a further comparative analysis.
