Resumen de Sirvientes y señores en el primer tercio del XX en Sevilla

Se pretende analizar el servicio doméstico y los señores que empleaban a ese servicio en la ciudad de Sevilla en el primer tercio del siglo XX. Se estudia el proceso de feminización de la servidumbre y la importancia de esa actividad entre las mujeres ocupadas, valorando su relevancia en el proceso migratorio desde el campo a la ciudad y en la trayectoria vital de las mujeres que se dedicaron a ella. Respecto a los señores se establecen tres categorías a partir de sus principales profesiones y ocupaciones (fuentes de sus ingresos y bases de su prestigio social) y se estudian sus orígenes. Terminaremos reflexionando sobre la paradoja de la condición de las señoras y sirvientas: diferentes por su posición social de clase, pero similares al estar ambas relegadas al ámbito doméstico.

This paper analyses maid labour and Lords that employed maids in the city of Seville in the first half of the 20 th century. It focuses on the feminization of serfdom and the relevance that this job in the female employment, whilst it also puts attention to the migration processes of women from rural to urban areas in the city of Seville. Lordship is studied from three different categories regarding their job occupation and activity (source of income and bases of their social status), as well as their origins. Finally, the study also reflects on gender, as both Ladies and maids, while apart from their social status, together in their limited role they play in the society, exclusively related to the household.
