Moito sabe o rato, pero máis sabe o gato: a linguaxe figurada felina en lingua galega

    O presente estudo, que forma parte dunha investigación fraseolóxica máis ampla constituída por 1317 expresións figuradas con referentes animais, é unha análise de 90 desas expresións construídas co referente de ‘gato/gata’. As persoas adoitamos conceptualizar moitas situacións da nosa vida diaria, sobre todo aquelas que nos resultan abstractas ou de difícil comprensión, a través da linguaxe figurada. Os referentes do mundo animal ocupan un lugar importante na creación de expresións figuradas nas que o ser humano adoita verse animalizado para, dese xeito, comprender e expresar mellor determinadas realidades. A través da análise destas expresións, extraídas tanto de obras lexicográficas xerais e especializadas galegas coma da lingua oral, pretendemos coñecer a valoración que a sociedade galega fai do gato, centrada en tres ámbitos temáticos: a caracterización do animal (tanto física coma moral), as relacións deste con outros animais e co ser humano e súa valoración histórica na sociedade galega.

    This study, which is part of a larger phraseological investigation of 1,317 figurative expressions with animal referents, is an analysis of 90 Galician figurative expressions constructed with the animal referent of ‘cat’. Humans conceptualise many situations of their daily life — especially those abstract or difficult to understand— through figurative language. Referents from the animal world play an important role in the creation of figurative expressions in which human beings undergo a process of animalization so they can understand and better express certain realities. Through the analysis of these expressions —extracted from Galician general and specialized lexicographical works as well as from oral language—, we aim to know how cats are considered by Galician people regarding three thematic fields: the characterization of the animal (physically and morally), its relation with other animals as well as with humans, and its historical assessment within the Galician society.
