La asignatura olvidada en la educación española

    Este artículo describe los resultados de la investigación llevada a cabo por la Universidad de León, en España, cuyo objetivo ha sido analizar cómo reflejan los libros de texto de Historia de España la memoria histórica democrática. Los manuales escolares siguen dominando el currículo, construyendo la memoria colectiva y conformando el imaginario de las futuras generaciones. Metodológicamente se ha utilizado el Análisis Crítico del Discurso para indagar sobre la extensión y completud, así como sobre la orientación y visión que presentan de los contenidos, y se han realizado 610 entrevistas a profesorado de Historia sobre su percepción. Los resultados reflejan que la brutal y sistemática represión de la dictadura franquista y la lucha antifranquista permanecen invisibilizadas, ocultadas, silenciadas e, incluso, tergiversadas. Que el alumnado español sabe más del nazismo alemán que del fascismo franquista. Se concluye, por tanto, que la memoria histórica democrática sigue siendo una asignatura pendiente en los libros de texto escolares españoles actuales.

    This article reports the results of a study conducted at the University of León, Spain. The aim of the research was to analyze how history textbooks in Spain present the democratic historical memory. Textbooks dominate the curriculum. They build the collective memory and shape the imaginary of future generations. Critical Discourse Analysis was the methodology employed to investigate the extent, completeness, orientation and perspective of the content presented. In addition, 610 history teachers were interviewed in order to obtain their opinions. The results reflect that the brutal and systematic repression of the Franco dictatorship and the anti-Franco struggle remain invisible, hidden, silenced and even distorted. Spanish students know more about German Nazism than Franco's fascism. It is concluded, therefore, that democratic historical memory continues to be a pending subject in current Spanish school textbooks.
