Libertarias de Vicente Aranda. La memoria controvertida y polémica entre utopía y feminismo

    Desde la Transición hasta nuestros días, la recuperación de la memoria histórica de la Guerra Civil ha sido en España el tema privilegiado de una abundante producción literaria, ensayística y documental; sin embargo, en el cine peninsular el argumento no ha tenido el mismo éxito. La película de Vicente Aranda titulada Libertarias (1996) es una de las pocas obras que se ocupan del conflicto bélico poniendo en primer plano el comienzo de la revolución en julio de 1936, la utopía libertaria y el protagonismo de las mujeres anarquistas y milicianas. Sin embargo, la declarada orientación ideológica del director y el feminismo rebelde de sus heroínas suscitaron largas polémicas y condenaron la película a la denigración. El artículo intenta resumir los aspectos controversos de la evocación de la memoria en el filme, especialmente los referidos al papel de la mujer.

    From the Transition to the present day, the recovery of the historical memory of the Civil War has been the privileged subject of an abundant literary, essayistic and documentary production in Spain; however, in peninsular cinema the topic has not had the same success. Vicente Aranda's film Libertarias (1996) is one of the few works that deals with the war, foregrounding the beginning of the revolution in July 1936, the libertarian utopia and the role of anarchist and militia women. However, the director's declared ideological orientation and the rebellious feminism of his heroines sparked long controversies and condemned the film to denigration. The article attempts to summarise the controversial aspects of the evocation of memory in the movie, especially those concerning the role of women.
