    INTRODUCCIÓN Gran parte de los pacientes ingresados en las unidades de cuidados intensivos son portadores de traqueostomía. Estos pacientes se encuentran con dificultades importantes para poder comunicarse, lo que limita el feedback con enfermería. Todo ello colocará al paciente en una situación de mayor riesgo para su salud y repercutirá en las curas de enfermería.

    OBJETIVOS Determinar la importancia que tiene la comunicación con el paciente traqueostomizado identificando, a partir de la bibliografía consultada, las características que debe presentar dicha comunicación Analizar como la comunicación influye en la relación terapéutica, así como señalar las curas de enfermería.

    METODOLOGÍA Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica en las bases de datos Cochrane Library, CSIC, CUIDEN, Dialnet, Medline, PubMed, SciELO, Scopus.

    También se obtuvo información de portales especializados en psicología y logopedia.

    Se seleccionaron los artículos según los criterios de inclusión y exclusión.

    CONCLUSIONES La comunicación es importante en la medida que a través de ella se pueden lograr unos cuidados humanizados centrados en el paciente traqueostomizado. Las instituciones sanitarias tienen que garantizar este derecho, dotando la UCI de productos de apoyo a la comunicación y formando al personal de enfermería, para que este pueda dar respuesta a las necesidades del paciente, contando con herramientas que le faciliten la comunicación y la relación de ayuda.

    INTRODUCTION Most of the patients who enter the intensive care units have a tracheostomy. These patients face important difficulties in order to be able to communicate and that restricts the nursing feedback. This fact may produce an increased risk in the patient and it will affect the cures from the nurses.

    OBJECTIVES Establish the importance of communication with the tracheostomy patient indicating, from consulting bibliography, the characteristics that such communication may present.

    Analyze how communication affects the therapeutic relationship and show the nursing cures.

    METHODOLOGY The literature search was conducted using the Cochrane Library, CSIC, CUIDEN, Dialnet, Medline, PubMed, SciELO, Scopus.

    The information was also obtained from specialized portals in psychology and speech therapy.

    CONCLUSIONS Communication is important by the fact that can be used to obtain humanized care centered on the tracheostomized patient. Healthcare institutions have to guarantee this right, outfit the ICU with communication support products and training nursing staff, so that they can respond to the patient´s needs with tools that facilitate communication and the helping relationship.
