    El Conventus Cordubensis ha sido un territorio de gran riqueza, explotado desdela antigüedad. Entre sus recursos más valiosos se contaban las cuencas mineras,fuente de la gran fortuna de este territorio. Sin embargo, para su explotaciónera necesario el mantenimiento de la paz en la región frente a las incursiones depueblos vecinos, como los lusitanos, y frente al bandidaje, mal común a todo elimperio. Esta ponencia, fruto de las investigaciones, aún en curso, realizadas alrespecto para la tesis “La configuración logística del Conventus Cordubensis: paisajes,recursos y estructuración” tiene como objetivo establecer un primer esquemadel sistema de defensa territorial cordubense. De esta forma analizaremos la situacióndel C. Cordubensis frente a estos peligros, las investigaciones realizadas enotras provincias del mundo romano y aportaremos los primeros resultados sobrela defensa del conventus.

    The Conventus Cordubensis has been a territory of great wealth, which has beenexploited since ancient times. Among its most valuable resources were the miningareas, the source of the great fortune of this territory. However, for its exploitationit was necessary to maintain peace in the region against the incursions of neighbouringpeoples, such as the lusitanians, and against banditry, an evil commonto the whole empire. This conference, which is the result of the research, still inprogress, carried out for the thesis “The logistical configuration of the ConventusCordubensis: landscapes, resources and structuring”, aims to establish a first outlineof the territorial defensive system of Corduba. In this way we will analyse thesituation of the C. Cordubensis in the light of these dangers, the research carriedout in other provinces of the Roman world and we will provide the first results onthe defense of the conventus.
