    Las trasformaciones que tuvieron lugar entre finales del siglo II d.C. y el siglo IVd.C. en el Imperio romano tuvieron importantes consecuencias para el gobiernode las civitates de Occidente. Desde la historiografía, se han llevado a cabo variasinterpretaciones sobre la repercusión de estos cambios en la élite decurional delas ciudades. Esta élite local, integrada por las familias más importantes de laciudad, responsable de la toma de decisiones de la comunidad, asumía munera acambio de reconocimiento y honores públicos y mantenía la paz social ejerciendosus obligaciones en la administración municipal. Teniendo todo esto en cuenta,pretendemos llevar a cabo un estudio contrastado entre las investigaciones realizadas y las fuentes de información disponibles para puntualizar cuales fueron lascompetencias asumidas por estos grupos entre finales del siglo II d.C. y el siglo IVd.C. en Occidente, su papel dentro de la asamblea senatorial y los privilegios querecibieron a cambio del cumplimiento de sus responsabilidades.

    The transformations that took place between the end of the 2nd century AD. andthe 4th century AD. in the Roman Empire they had important consequences for thegovernment of the civitates of the West. From the historiography, several interpretationshave been carried out on the repercussion of these changes in the decurionalelite of the cities. This local elite, made up of the most important familiesin the city, responsible for decision-making in the community, assumed munerain exchange for recognition and public honors and will lose social peace by exercisingtheir obligations in the municipal administration. Bearing all this in mind,we intend to carry out a contrasting study between the investigations carried outand the available information sources to point out what were the competencesassumed by these groups between the end of the 2nd century AD. and the 4thcentury AD. in the West, their role within the senatorial assembly and the privilegesthey received a change from the fulfillment of their responsibilities.
