    A finales de la Primera Guerra Mundial surgió en España un impulso decidido porvertebrar un modelo de asociacionismo veterinario que representase a la incipienteestructura burocrática de la profesión veterinaria. Sirvió de base para los preexistentescolegios oficiales veterinarios provinciales constituidos en las dos primeras décadasdel siglo XX. Este modelo de autorregulación de los colegios profesionales se inspirabaen la corriente ideológica del ilustre sociólogo francés Emile Durkheim a inicio del sigloXX. Y que fueron materializadas en la creación de la primigenia Asociación NacionalVeterinaria (ANV) posteriormente denominada Asociación Nacional VeterinariaEspañola (ANVE). La ANVE debía de servir de órgano de representación y de legítimoejercicio de lobby para la profesión veterinariaLa ANVE fue liderada por un pequeño y selecto grupo de veterinarios ilustresquienes sostuvieron a la institución entre 1923 hasta su suspensión en 1925. En elartículo se analiza la importancia de esta segunda época que arrancó en el mes dejulio de 1934, en la que Salvador Vicente de la Torre González mostró un evidenteliderazgo.La ANVE sirvió como institución precursora donde se dio cabida a diferentespensamientos sobre cómo organizar y liderar a la profesión veterinaria. Se definieronlos cimientos que permitieron construir en primer lugar una asociación de carácterestatal, que en una fase más madura abocaría a la creación del Consejo General deColegios Veterinarios de España (CGCVE). La primera presidencia de la institucióncolegial nacional recaería en Salvador Vicente de la Torre, que fue capaz de integrarlas propuestas, aunar las ilusiones y las ideas de los que le precedieron, mostrandouna destacada generosidad al renunciar y hacerse a un lado a final del verano de 1951permitiendo que el CGCVE evolucionase bajo otra presidencia. Es obligado destacarcomo la ilusión que emanaba desde el pequeño colegio oficial veterinario de Jaén, yel liderazgo de su ilustre presidente, Salvador Vicente de la Torre González, sirvió decatalizador para unir esfuerzos y proyectos comunes que permitirían materializar unmodelo de organización veterinaria que aún perdura hasta nuestros días

    At the end of the First World War, Spain saw the emergence of a determineddrive to create a model of veterinary associations that would represent the incipientbureaucratic structure of the veterinary profession. The pre-existing official provincialveterinary associations set up in the first two decades of the 20th century served as abasis. This model of self-regulation of the professional associations was inspired by theideological current of the illustrious French sociologist Emile Durkheim at the beginningof the 20th century. And which were materialised in the creation of the original NationalVeterinary Association (ANV), later called the Spanish National Veterinary Association(ANVE). The ANVE was to serve as a representative body and legitimate lobby for theveterinary profession.ANVE was led by a small and select group of illustrious veterinarians who sustainedthe institution from 1923 until its suspension in 1925. The article analyses the importanceof the second period, which began in July 1934, in which Salvador Vicente de la TorreGonzález showed clear leadership.The ANVE served as a forerunner institution where different thoughts on how toorganise and lead the veterinary profession were given space. The foundations werelaid to build a statewide association, which in a more mature phase would lead to thecreation of the General Council of Veterinary Associations of Spain (CGCVE). The firstpresidency of the national collegiate institution would fall to Salvador Vicente de la TorreGonzález, who was able to integrate the proposals and bring together the hopes andideas of those who preceded him, showing outstanding generosity by resigning andstepping aside at the end of the summer of 1951, allowing the CGCVE to evolve underanother presidency. It should be noted how the enthusiasm that emanated from thesmall official veterinary college of Jaén, and the leadership of its illustrious president,Salvador Vicente de la Torre, served as a catalyst for joining forces and commonprojects that would allow the materialisation of a model of veterinary organisation thatstill survives to this day.
