    El objetivo de la presente comunicación es estudiar dos acciones de la Coronaespañola, realizadas con sumo sigilo, en los que se vieron involucrados tres équidoscomo obsequio. Por parte española intervinieron los más altos representantes delEstado, siendo los receptores dos grandes personajes estadounidenses. Entre lasmedidas adoptadas durante las operaciones en España, se detecta la intervención dedos herradores y albéitares.El momento era crítico, pues España había ayudado enormemente a losestadounidense a sacudirse del yugo británico en su guerra revolucionaria, perodesde entonces también era su gran vecino y habían quedado sin dirimir importantesasuntos que había que salvar.Se ha acudido a fuentes archivísticas de primera mano, fundamentalmente a ladocumentación diplomática entre España y Estados Unidos del Archivo HistóricoNacional. En Estados Unidos fueron de gran calado el National Archives y la Libraryof Congress.

    The objective of this communication is to study two actions of the Spanish Crown,carried out with great secrecy, in which three equids were involved as a gift. On theSpanish side, the highest representatives of the State intervened, the recipients beingtwo great American personalities. Among the measures adopted during the operationsin Spain, the intervention of two farriers and albéitares is detected.The moment was critical, since Spain had enormously helped the Americans toshake off the British yoke in their revolutionary war, but since then it was also theirgreat neighbor and important issues had remained unresolved that had to be saved.First-hand archival sources have been used, fundamentally the diplomaticdocumentation between Spain and the United States from the National HistoricalArchive. In the United States, the National Archives and the Library of Congress wereof great importance.
