    La casa de los Enríquez de Ribera fue uno de los principales linajes en la Sevilla medieval y moderna, consolidando un destacado patrimonio formado por villas situadas en la frontera de Granada. Los adelantados fueron incorporando de manera sistemática tierras, bienes, y rentas con el objetivo de aumentar el extenso patrimonio y diversificar sus fuentes de ingresos, más allá de las rentas percibidas en sus señoríos jurisdiccionales o de las mercedes que recibían por el ejercicio del oficio del adelantamiento. Desde finales del siglo XV financiaron y gestionaron actividades industriales y comerciales como la fabricación y exportación de jabón o de caña de azúcar. La obra más importante que llevaron a cabo fue la construcción del Hospital de las Cinco Llagas, para cuya financiación dotaron de numerosas propiedades y tributos adquiridos en Sevilla, convirtiendo al hospital en un instrumento financiero del linaje y uno de los grandes propietarios del mercado de inmuebles hispalense.

    The Enríquez de Ribera family was one of the main lineages in the late middle and early modern ages in Seville that managed to build up an outstanding estate made up of villas located on the border with Granada. The adelantados (military governors in a frontier territory) were systematically incorporating land, real estate, and income with the aim of increasing their extensive wealth and diversifying their sources of income, beyond the income received in their jurisdictional lordships or the grants they received for the exercise of the office of the adelantados. Since the end of the fifteenth century, they financed and managed industrial and commercial activities such as the manufacture and export of soap or sugar cane. The most important project they carried out was the construction of the «Hospital de las Cinco Llagas», for whose financing they provided numerous properties and tributes acquired in Seville, turning the hospital into a financial instrument of the lineage and one of the great owners of the property market in Seville.
