    Este trabajo tiene como objetivo conocer la importancia que la institución de la Bailía General del Reino de Valencia ejerció, como máxima autoridad, sobre los mudéjares, para lo cual se ha realizado un examen exhaustivo del archivo de Bailía de 1424. La investigación archivística ha resultado la pieza clave de todo el proceso, llevado a cabo mediante un procedimiento sistemático que se inició con la lectura de todos los documentos que componían dicho registro, acompañado de la regesta de los mismos y transcripción de aquellos documentos más significativos para, a partir de su análisis e interpretación, describir y determinar dicha autoridad. Este enfoque ha permitido realizar el análisis «documento a documento» y, por tanto, estar en condiciones de formar una imagen completa de las competencias y funciones asignadas que quedaron reflejadas como la expresión de las distintas actuaciones de la Bailía General, lo cual se transformó en el eje del trabajo aquí presentado, ya que ayudó a dar respuesta al planteamiento inicial de la cuestión. Tomando como base la información aportada por el archivo y con el apoyo bibliográfico sobre la institución de la Bailía y la vida de los mudéjares en el siglo XV, se ha elaborado una aproximación a la jurisdicción que el baile general poseía sobre los mudéjares al ser considerados como parte del Real Patrimonio.

    This work aims to determine the importance that the institution of the general bailiwick of the kingdom of Valencia exercised as supreme authority over Mudejars, for which an exhaustive examination of the Bailiwick archive of 1424 has been carried out. Archival research has been the key piece in the whole process, carried out through a systematic procedure that began with the reading of all the documents of the series in the archive, accompanied by their regesta, or summary, and transcription of the most significant ones, in order to describe and establish its authority through the analysis and interpretation of these sources. This approach has allowed us to implement a «document by document» analysis which allows us to determine the responsibilities and functions assigned to the general bailiwick based on the different actions it performed. Based on the information provided by the archive and with existing scholarship on the institution of the bailiwick and the life of the Mudejars in the fifteenth century, we propose a first look at the jurisdiction that the general bailiff possessed over the Mudejars who belonged to the royal crown.
