    With the independence of Morocco, followed in 1962 by the one of Algeria, were gathered in Aix-en-Provence not only a large part of the personnel of the services of Antiquities of Rabat and Algiers, but also a whole documentation on excavations carried out by France in the Maghreb countries, from Morocco to Libya. The reasons for these deposits, the role assigned to the Aix-en-Provence archaeological research center at the time of the independence of the Maghreb countries, the evolution of this center and the relationships, or non-relationships, that followed, between myth and reality, it is the history of these deposits accumulated for more than half a century within a laboratory also with a complex history that we will revisit. They are also human stories, the stories of archaeologists, a group of connected persons at the origin of the documentary collections of the Aix laboratory who are trying to gradually open up to sharing.

    À l’indépendance du Maroc, suivie en 1962 par celle de l’Algérie, ont été réunies à Aix-en-Provence non seulement une grande partie du personnel des services des Antiquités de Rabat et d’Alger, mais aussi toute une documentation sur les fouilles menées par la France au Maghreb, du Maroc à la Libye. Les raisons de ces dépôts, le rôle assigné au centre de recherche en archéologie d’Aix-en-Provence aux moments des indépendances des pays du Maghreb, l’évolution de ce centre et les relations, ou non-relations, qui s’en sont suivies, entre mythe et réalité, c’est l’histoire de ces dépôts cumulés depuis plus d’un demisiècle au sein d’un laboratoire lui aussi à l’histoire complexe que l’on revisitera. Ce sont également des histoires humaines, des histoires d’archéologues, un composé de passeurs à l’origine des fonds documentaires du laboratoire aixois qui tente de s’ouvrir petit à petit au partage.
