Resumen de As legislações eclesiásticas e o batismo dos cativos de Itapemirim/ES

This article intends to present the ecclesiastical legislation in imperial Brazil regarding the legitimacy of the captive families and analyze the unions between the enslaved of Itapemirim-ES, according to the baptismal records of the Nossa Senhora do Amparo Parish between the years 1840-1888 . Civil registrations of birth, marriage and death were the responsibility of the Catholic Church, even with other bodies created by the empire to regulate this practice. In the baptismal documents, the primary source analyzed in this work, the parish priests registered the legitimacy or naturalness of the infant's affiliation, which allows us to check how the Catholic Church acted in the regulation of the matrimonial sacrament to captives from Itapemerin.

O presente artigo pretende apresentar as legislações eclesiásticas no Brasil imperial a respeito da legitimidade das famílias cativas e analisar as uniões entre os escravizados de Itapemirim/ES, de acordo com os registros de batismo da Paróquia Nossa Senhora do Amparo entre os anos de 1840-1888. Os registros civis de nascimento, casamento e morte ficavam a cargo da Igreja Católica, mesmo com outros órgãos criados pelo império para regular tal prática. Nos documentos de batismo, fonte primária analisada neste trabalho, os párocos registravam a legitimidade ou naturalidade da filiação do infante, o que nos permite checar como a Igreja Católica atuava na regulação do sacramento matrimonial aos cativos itapemerinenses.
